As part of Rinat Akhmetov’s Steel Front initiative, Metinvest Group has handed over a set of prefabricated dugouts to the soldiers of the 15th Brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine, named after Hero of Ukraine, Lieutenant Bohdan Zavada. The six steel bunkers will be installed to form a single multifunctional command post. This underground complex will serve the National Guard in the Donetsk sector, where fierce fighting continues.
The primary purpose of Metinvest’s steel capsules is to safeguard the lives and health of personnel operating on the frontline. These bunkers are outfitted with workstations, a command centre for meetings and quick response, rest areas, sanitary facilities, and other amenities.
The units are fully equipped with essentials, including furniture, communication systems, sleeping quarters, showers, boilers, heating, lighting, weapons storage, and electronic equipment. This allows the underground posts to serve not only as a hideout and resting place but also as a functional workspace.
The defenders view this substantial support as a major asset on the frontline.
“Our brigade personnel are currently carrying out missions in the Donetsk sector, where there are many needs. We thank Metinvest and the Steel Front for what you are doing for the troops. For the support. These hideouts are very comfortable and modern, they have everything we need to work and recuperate,” says Yevstakhii MOSPAN, deputy brigade commander.
In appreciation of the support, the soldiers presented the Steel Front with a commemorative gift: the brigade’s flag.
“Given the difficult situation on the frontline, no one has the right to diminish support for our defenders, especially in the Donetsk sector, where the fighting is most intense. Our steel hideouts are a truly reliable product, tailored to the realities of war. They provide a crucial and dependable solution that safeguards soldiers and addresses their needs in the field. We have already provided more than 600 units to the frontline at the request of the military, and we are continuing this effort. Requests from the military and their positive feedback serve as the best testament to the quality and reliability of Metinvest’s steel products for the army," says Oleksandr MYRONENKO, Metinvest’s COO.
It should be noted that Metinvest has handed over more than 600 steel capsules to the Ukrainian defenders. They were used to set up hideouts for personnel, command posts and even Ukraine’s first underground hospital. Overall, since the onset of the full-scale invasion, Metinvest has allocated UAH 7.5 billion in assistance to Ukraine and its citizens, with UAH 4 billion dedicated to military needs as part of Rinat Akhmetov’s military initiative.
