Metinvest Group's Zaporizhzhia Ccoke continues to implement the major overhaul programme for the coke shop's furnaces, including the major overhaul of coke oven battery #2 with an investment cost of UAH 60 million.In 2024, two walls of coking chambers were relined, and reinforcement elements, armour and anchor columns of the furnaces were replaced. As part of the programme, two more coking chamber walls are planned to be relined in 2024. The repair of a quenching car, upgrade of auxiliary platforms and railway tracks is also performed at COB #2.Despite the proximity of the frontline and other challenges associated with the full-scale war, the plant continues its stable work to provide steelmakers with high-quality coke. The key factor in stable production is the correct function of the main equipment - coke oven batteries. Zaporizhstal has completed the first stage of the overhaul of blast furnace #3. Metinvest-Promservice specialists have successfully replaced the upper gas shut-off valve.– The gas cut-off valve is designed to equalise the pressure between the atmosphere and the blast furnace space. It is the upper valve that equalises the pressure between the charging hopper and the furnace, and it is very important to replace it in time to ensure that the charging process is safe and does not cause any emergency situations, – Sergii LYSOKON, Deputy Head of Blast Furnace Shop for Equipment, said.Valves are replaced periodically depending on wear and tear. Therefore, it is important to keep their condition under control. The Pelletising Plant of Metinvest's Central Iron Ore Enrichment Works has completed the major overhaul of the OK-324 induration machine.The process equipment of the Pelletising Plant operates continuously, on a round-the-clock basis, for more than 7,500 hours per annum, so the increased level of attention to its technical condition is extremely important for miners. The specialists upgraded the equipment in 14 days. The repairs were carried out as part of the programme to optimise the pelletising process."One of the key areas was the restoration of refractory lining of the induration machine hearth and the repair of six prechambers.
