Dear friends!
Once again, we mark Metallurgists' and Miners’ Day under the most difficult conditions in the history of independent Ukraine. We are defending our freedom, fighting for our future, and holding the line – both at the front and in the rear. No matter how hard it gets, we have already proven: we can withstand any blow. Ukraine’s Steel Front stands firm and only grows stronger.
You – the metallurgists, miners, and coke plant workers of Metinvest – remain at your workplaces despite constant threats. Your work is not just about metal and ore. It is a contribution to the resilience of our state. It is a pillar of Ukraine’s economy and a source of support for our defenders.
Together, as part of the Steel Front, we continue to support the army and civilian Ukrainians. Ukrainian steel today means body armour, shelters, and protective structures. It is a shield that saves lives. And after Victory, it will once again become the backbone for bridges, homes, infrastructure, and new enterprises.
On this day, I want to express special gratitude to our defenders. Since 2014, nearly 11,000 Metinvest employees have joined the Armed Forces to defend Ukraine. We are proud of their courage, resilience, and determination. Sadly, we have suffered losses – 766 of our colleagues have been killed on the front lines and in shelling attacks. Eternal memory to those who gave their lives for Ukraine’s freedom – their sacrifice will forever remain in our hearts. Nearly one thousand veterans have already returned to their teams. Their strength of spirit and experience are not only contributions to production but also examples for everyone around them.
I thank each of you for your loyalty to your profession, for every day you choose to be at your workplace. It means that Ukrainian metallurgy will endure. It means its future will be as strong as our steel.
We will definitely win. We will definitely rebuild everything that has been destroyed. Because after the darkest night always comes the dawn. And the dawn will surely rise over a strong, peaceful, and independent Ukraine.
With deep respect, Rinat Akhmetov
