Development requires joint efforts, where interaction becomes a bridge to new opportunities and high-quality education. With this in mind, the management and lecturers of Metinvest Polytechnic are not only always in touch, but also strive to be on the same page with the students.
To discuss important issues, the heads of the university's faculties have met with student activists. One of the key topics for discussion was the participation of the student council in improving students' academic discipline and academic achievements, as well as conducting a survey among students of all academic levels on their satisfaction with the educational process at the university.
The faculty deans expressed important views on improving communication with students, emphasising the importance of open dialogue and listening to the opinions of student activists when making decisions. They stressed the need to create mechanisms for collecting student initiatives and establish feedback channels to effectively address issues. As for the survey among students proposed by the student council, the deans supported this initiative. The student-centred principle of the educational process implemented at the university envisages the student involvement in the university governance and the determination of its strategic directions, as it is an effective tool for the timely identification of problems and is instrumental in finding effective solutions.
An important part of the discussions was the participation of the student council in ensuring the improvement of the quality of academic disciplines and the assessment of academic achievements. The deans supported the strengthening of the role of student activists in the development of the academic environment and expressed confidence that cooperation with the student council would contribute to the improvement of the quality of education and the development of the university as a whole. "Collaboration between the university management, lecturers and students unlocks creative synergy to ensure high quality education. It is important to establish a system of regular meetings so that students feel that their opinions and needs are taken into account in management decisions. At Metinvest Polytechnic, we are always receptive to the opinions and suggestions of students, because such feedback is the key to the development and continuous improvement of the quality of education," says Viktoriia ROVENSKA, Dean of the Faculty of Industrial Automation and Digital Technologies.
"The participation of the student council in ensuring the improvement of academic disciplines and academic achievements is not just an initiative, but a strategic step towards improving the university process. A tool such as a student survey is an effective way to understand their needs. Not only do we support the desire of students to be involved in the process of solving key issues related the university, but also successfully implement this practice," Iryna SHKRABAK, Dead of the Mining Faculty at Metinvest Polytechnic, added.
Students, in turn, see this not only as a formal process, but also as an important part of their educational journey. Meetings with management encourage active engagement in their learning process. They see this as an opportunity to make their own contribution to the high-quality education. According to the students, such meetings are important and motivating for them. Anastasiia UDOVYTSKA, chairperson of the student council at Metinvest Polytechnic, is sharing their impressions: "This meeting has opened up new opportunities for cooperation. We strive to actively participate not only in university life, but also in ensuring high quality education and improving the student experience. I hope that such meetings, albeit in the online format, will be regular."
