In 2025, Kamet-Steel again confirmed its leading position among metallurgical companies of Metinvest in terms of the number of new product items developed. Of the eleven new steel products introduced to the market by the company, 7 were developed by our enterprise's team. Metallurgists focused on the needs of both the Ukrainian and European markets, expanding the continuous casting billet range by four items and the range of in-demand rolled sections by three items.
The achievement of the basic oxygen furnace shop's metallurgists includes four new steel grades: 10У1, 20У, 26Г2ТР and S355NL-1N, with stricter requirements for chemical composition, primary regarding sulphur and phosphorus content.
The programme for mastering steel products required a number of coordinated technological solutions. Close attention was paid to hot metal desulphurisation and scrap charging of the basic oxygen furnace, as well as the selection of lime and slag thinning agents. In addition, the optimal duration of secondary metallurgy of a heat at the ladle furnace was determined.
Casting of new steel grades into continuous casting billets with a cross-section of 335x400 mm was mastered on CCM No. 2, where reconstruction of the electrical equipment was successfully completed last year. This contributed to stabilising the casting speed and, consequently, improving billet cutting accuracy, minimising metal losses.
The purpose of new semi-finished products is the production of round steel bars and their subsequent processing into seamless pipes for critical applications.

Also, the production of 100 mm grinding balls with high surface and core hardness corresponding to the 5th hardness group was mastered on the ball-rolling mill. By experimentally determining the optimal post-rolling heat treatment regime, specialists achieved stable production of highly wear-resistant products, required for the reliable and efficient operation of the company's mining and processing plants.
Viktor DEMBYTSKYI, Director for Technology and Quality at Kamet-Steel:
"Under challenging conditions, Kamet-Steel has made confident steps to significantly strengthen Metinvest's presence in neighbouring markets. Based on the results of 2025, our team once again demonstrated flexibility and professionalism, timely mastering new types of products required by Ukrainian and European consumers. As a result, 100,000 tonnes of products manufactured at the plant are already in use at construction sites in Poland. We also meet the needs of our mining partners for grinding balls with enhanced hardness. Our billets produced from new steel grades are intended for facilities with increased requirements for safety, reliability, and strength. And today we are not slowing down: from the first days of the new year, the team has been working under the 2026 product development programme. New challenges and even more steel innovations lie ahead."
