Food, medicine, rehabilitation: almost 375,000 people receive assistance from Saving Lives

The humanitarian mission of the Saving Lives project continues. Every day of the war, more and more Ukrainians need support. Thanks to international partners and contributions from charity givers, 374,130 people have already received various types of assistance.

When Metinvest coordinated with the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation to launch the Saving Lives project, the aim was to protect Ukrainians from the food crisis during the war. At first, non-perishable food and hygiene materials were collected at hubs in Poland and sent to Ukraine. Then, the humanitarian initiative began to take care of hospitals, providing them with medicines, equipment and consumables. Further, areas of support for cultural and social events were opened, and the development of programmes offering psychological rehabilitation and prosthetics for military and civilians began. Today, Saving Lives is a powerful force for good that provides systematic assistance to internally displaced people, residents of frontline and de-occupied territories, and all those affected by the war.

DO MORE

Every day, the Saving Lives project expands its geography of assistance. Currently, food, hygiene kits and medicines are delivered to the Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia, Donetsk, Kirovohrad, Kherson and Odesa regions.

Among the latest activities of the Saving Lives project is a joint effort with the Masha Foundation as part of the Unbreakable Mum programme. The programme was developed to stabilise the psycho-emotional state of participants, prevent the onset of post-traumatic stress disorder, encourage adaptation and self-realisation, and foster the creation of new social ties.

Another important stage in the evolution of the humanitarian initiative is the start of cooperation with the Protez Hub, a prosthetics assistance project in Ukraine. It will focus on two areas: providing prosthetic treatment for Ukrainians who have lost limbs because of the war; and creating an online educational platform for limb prosthetists and other rehabilitation specialists that will be available in the Ukrainian language.

As part of the psychological rehabilitation and prosthetics programme, 158 people are currently undergoing prosthetic treatment. You can read their stories in the Unbreakable Mum Diary or in the publications of Anatoliy Uzlov and Dmytro Kulinich about their paths to a fulfilling life.

Also, thanks to Saving Lives, a large playroom has been set up at a shelter near Kamianske. This became possible through the support of an Italian law firm that has become a donor partner of the humanitarian project.

ASSISTANCE FROM ALL OVER THE WORLD

Almost 200 businesses and organisations from Poland, Germany, the Netherlands, Italy, Spain, the US, the UK, Switzerland, Greece, the UAE and other countries are supporting the Saving Lives initiative. A significant contribution to the development of the humanitarian project is being made by its ambassadors, who are using their recognition to attract as many people and funds as possible to save Ukrainians.

Since the launch of the Saving Lives project, donor partners have contributed €2,324,235 to support Ukrainians.

The focus of Saving Lives is to provide food and hygiene kits. Recently, employees of Metinvest’s enterprises in Zaporizhzhia received additional aid from the project.
