More than 85,000 people receiving aid through the Saving Lives humanitarian project

It has been four months since the outbreak of full-scale war in Ukraine. Thousands of people have lost their peaceful way of life due to the Russian invasion. To support them in these toughest of times, the Saving Lives project initiated by Metinvest Group and DTEK in liaison with the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation expands the scale and geographical coverage of aid every day.

Since the outbreak of the war, the Saving Lives humanitarian project has streamlined the regular supply of food, basic essentials and medications from Europe to Ukraine. Goods are delivered to dedicated distribution centres and transported from there to regions that need urgent support.

To date, 3,146 tonnes of kits with essential items have been supplied to Ukrainian cities. They have been provided to 85,453 people, most of whom are among vulnerable groups such as women, children and the elderly. Recently, we have started to administer aid to the families of Metinvest employees called up for military service in the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Territorial Defence Forces, as well as to the employees entitled to social benefits

Aid geography

The Saving Lives humanitarian project has delivered 3,146 tonnes of basic essential kits to Ukraine’s regions, including 1,141 tonnes to Zaporizhzhia, 1,009 tonnes to Kryvyi Rih, 549 tonnes to Kamianske and 447 tonnes to Dnipro

The project is also expanding its circle of international partners. It is now supported by almost 90 donor companies from Germany, Italy, Poland, the Netherlands, Spain, the US, the UK, Switzerland, Greece, the UAE and other countries.

At the end of May, the Do It Together foundation signed a memorandum of cooperation with Agritrade Ukraine, which acts as the Coordination Centre of the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture of Germany. The memorandum covers the planned monthly supply of 200 tonnes of food and basic essentials.

In June, food packages from Agritrade Ukraine have been provided to the forcibly displaced people who have been temporarily living in shelters arranged by Metinvest in Zaporizhzhia. This strategic partner has also provided delicious gifts to Ukrainian children who attended thematic events to mark Children’s Day.

Aid by the numbers

The aid provided through the Saving Lives humanitarian project is sufficient for up to 100,000 people in total

In addition to food supplies and clothes, the Saving Lives project is also arranging the supply of medications and medical products to Ukraine. In particular, EUR238,000 of medications and medical consumables have been delivered to hospitals in Zaporizhzhia and Kamianske. Metinvest rehabilitation and reintegration centres have received 1,500 vitamin packs for displaced people.
