Over 122,000 Ukrainians Receive Aid From Saving Lives Humanitarian Project

Every day, Ukrainians fight for freedom and independence and for a peaceful future as free people. Unfortunately, as the war rages on, many cities, towns and settlements find themselves on the brink of humanitarian disaster. To prevent this, Metinvest Group and DTEK, in coordination with the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation, are pressing ahead with their Saving Lives humanitarian project.

Civilians in Ukraine suffer not only from the shelling and bombardment, but also from a lack of access to food, water, essential items and medication. Launched at the beginning of the war, the Saving Lives humanitarian project helped to arrange a sustainable supply of such essential goods from Europe to Ukraine.

In the first four months, 122,551 people in different regions of Ukraine received aid. They include internally displaced people, those from the de-occupied territories, vulnerable groups, families of mobilised employees of Metinvest's enterprises and staff entitled to social welfare benefits. The humanitarian mission of the project also covers more than 30,000 long-serving retired employees of the Group’s enterprises. This means that the elderly can save considerable family expenses and time otherwise spent looking for the most essential goods.

Residents of Avdiivka, on the frontline, continue to receive goods, despite the constant threat of shelling by Russia. The aid is delivered to people by employees of Avdiivka Coke

In addition to the cities and towns where Metinvest’s businesses operate, aid is also provided to residents of other settlements that are geographically near distribution centres. In particular, Ketrysanivka territorial community in Kirovohrad region received 300 food packs in June, while 14 villages in the Beryslav district of Kherson region have received another 2,000 packs.

FACT

Aside from standard food packs, the Saving Lives project aims to bring joy to local people through delicacies. In particular, around 2,800 people temporarily residing in local shelters in Zaporizhzhia have received condensed milk

With the support of its partners, the Saving Lives project can increase the scale and geographical reach of the assistance. To date, it is supported by almost 90 donor companies all over the world: Germany, Italy, Poland, the Netherlands, Spain, the US, the UK, Switzerland, Greece, the UAE and others. The Do It Together Charitable Foundation, established to implement the initiatives of the humanitarian project and fund them, also receives donations from Metinvest employees: https://bit.ly/DoItTogetherFund.
