Since the onset of the full-scale war, Metinvest's humanitarian hub in Kryvyi Rih has organised the delivery of aid to residents of 12 communities in the Dnipropetrovsk, Kirovohrad and Kherson regions. Non-governmental organisation "Kryvyi Rih Foundation for the Future" has been coordinating the activity.
Volunteers from Metinvest's Kryvyi Rih businesses have packed and delivered nearly 95,000 food parcels, 19,500 packages of hygiene products, over 7,000 kilograms of cereals and 2,500 packages of condensed milk to the communities.
To date, more than 80,000 IDPs have found shelter in communities in the Kryvyi Rih region. For almost two years now, Metinvest has been assisting in setting up comfortable shelters and dormitories for families with children and pensioners who fled their homes to escape hostilities. The company helps to purchase building materials, bedding, household appliances, and other necessary items.
Construction and restoration work on infrastructure facilities continues in the Kryvyi Rih communities. An important project - drilling and commissioning of exploration wells in the Karpivka community - is in progress. Thanks to its, residents and guests of the community already have access to free purified drinking water.
Classroom renovations are getting close to the finish line at the Novostarodubskyi Lyceum of the Petrivka community. In the old buildings, the builders have dismantled the worn-out flooring and then re-concreted it. Walls have been levelled, suspended ceilings installed, and window frames and doors replaced. The renovated premises will serve as temporary housing for internally displaced families who are staying in the Petrivka community.
Metinvest's assistance extends, among other things, to internally displaced families with young children. Aside from the distribution of food parcels and hygiene kits, over a year and a half, Metinvest has organised and held more than 20 creative workshops in various fields in cooperation with the teachers of the Kids Education network of children's development centres and "Kryvyi Rih Foundation for the Future". More than a thousand children of all ages have participated in the events.
