Emergency Response Trainings for Zaporizhstal's Employees are Currently Underway

Threats like shelling, enemy shell hits, power outages, and air alerts can significantly affect the operation of industrial businesses. This impact is particularly evident in processes with a continuous cycle, such as those in metallurgy.

Labor safety aims to provide employees with a safe working environment so they can complete their shifts and return home unharmed. This is the clear objective of all industrial standards, rules, and regulations implemented at Zaporizhstal as well.

Since the start of Russia's full-scale invasion, the plant has made several adjustments to its approach to labour safety to address the risks of wartime. A key decision was to introduce regular emergency training sessions for the staff.

Since the start of the full-scale war, over 847 training sessions have been conducted for the plant's staff.

" Starting in 2022, Zaporizhstal conducts regular large-scale training sessions for employees in different scenarios and at various departments. The main objective of these trainings is to prepare staff for expected actions in the event of different emergency situations, particularly those associated with wartime risks," explains HSE head Oleg ASTAFIEV. "We practice actions for accidents containment and elimination of the consequences. To ensure optimal effectiveness, these actions need to be performed at a muscle memory level.

During a full-scale invasion, it's obvious that staff trainings are focused on wartime risks. The training sessions are repeated on a regular basis to remind staff of the algorithm of actions in case of emergency situations, such as safe evacuation, equipment shutdown, and containment strategies.
