Metinvest Northern Iron Ore checked the coherence of actions during a hypothetical emergency

Metinvest Kryvyi Rih Iron Ores continue to practice actions that can save the lives of colleagues and production equipment during emergencies, including during the war. Another training was held in the mining and transport shop No. 1 of Northern Iron Ore, during which employees of the structural unit, together with emergency services, worked out actions to manage risks during emergencies.

Previously, specialists developed and agreed with the administration of the plant a plan-scenario of a comprehensive training and held a number of joint meetings with the participation of directors in the areas, as well as theoretical training of headquarters heads and observers. According to legend, as a result of the explosion and the blast wave, the unit's facilities were de-energized on the territory of MTS-1, the fuel tanker driver was injured and smoke was found near the gas station.

The training was attended by employees of the shop, in particular firefighting and pre-medical units, as well as operational services – the departmental fire station of Northern Iron Ore, a detachment of the security company, an ambulance team and others.

"In a crisis situation, especially in production, when employees are focused on technological processes and operation of high-risk equipment, it is extremely necessary that personnel know and be able to act in accordance with the developed procedures and algorithms approved at the enterprise. Coherence and the correct sequence of necessary actions of employees and emergency services in potential wartime crises and during emergencies minimize negative consequences for people and production. Therefore, conducting such trainings is extremely important for the company's employees," said Maksym NYKOLAEV, Head of Metinvest Iron Ore Health and Safety Department

An important stage of the training was the practice of actions when an explosive object is detected – operational information, encirclement of the danger zone and evacuation of people from the zone of possible damage. As well as working out the actions of employees in the event of a power outage.

The results of the training were summed up at a joint meeting, where the participants analysed the observers' assessments in accordance with checklists, the actions of employees, existing deviations and developed corrective measures. Experts noted the high level of readiness of Northern Iron Ore employees and emergency services to interact in emergency situations.

"Coordinated actions in any crisis situation, primarily related to war risks, is one of the requirements of today for the stable operation of an industrial enterprise with critical infrastructure," said Yuriy ROVINSLKIY, Metinvest Iron Ore HSE Director. "Therefore, the main task of the training was to test and improve the knowledge and practical skills of various departments and services involved in the elimination of the consequences of emergencies, as well as to confirm the readiness of each employee, managers and working personnel for clear interaction. In general, the results of the training are positive: the employees worked smoothly, and corrective measures have already been developed and are being worked out regarding the identified shortcomings."
