Modern technologies to improve economic efficiency and energy independence of the enterprise. Kamet-Steel implemented an investment project to stabilise coke oven gas pressure in the enterprise's system.

At the site of the power plant, the enterprise completed comprehensive tests of a coke oven gas storage system in gas collectors with the possibility of returning it to the gas system of the plant.

The project is based on modern technology for collecting excess coke oven gas generated in the network in the process of coke production into flexible gas-holder tanks in order to use it for the needs of the enterprise.

The infrastructure of the new facility, in addition to the pressure stabilisation system equipment site, where two flexible gas-holder tanks have been installed - each with a gas storage capacity of almost 580 cubic metres, also includes a compressor building, where two turbocompressors operate for pumping gas and one air compressor, a condensate collection unit, process networks, etc.

The use of flexible synthetic gas collectors is the latest approach to the issue of gas storage. Among their advantages over steel ones, first of all, are the economic and less labour-intensive installation stage, as well as improved working conditions for personnel during maintenance in the course of operation. The operation of the gas storage facility is fully automated and equipped with a preventive process safety system.

"The implementation of this investment project is the next step of the enterprise and the company towards the priority goal – stable production. In the future, the operation of the coke oven gas storage unit will allow us to use this high-calorific gas more efficiently without losing its excess volumes. And this is an opportunity to be more energy independent within the needs of the enterprise and increase the efficiency of production processes,” Mykhailo KOPTIEV, Director for Capital Construction and Investments.
