Kamet Steel Overhauls its Main Heating Equipment

In these summer-like warm days of September, we are not yet thinking about the winter frosts, but the enterprise's utility team is already taking care of the employees. The specialists of the enterprise's CHP are carried out the PTVM-50 boiler repair works.

The heating boiler with a capacity of 50 Gcal, which is meant to warm the buildings of the enterprise, requires a fundamental restoration of its worn-out key components after long-term operation. The gradual breakdown of the key components led to the drop of the equipment's efficiency.

As part of the major overhaul, the first step is to replace the heating metal surfaces of the boiler. This includes installing new screens, bypass, and convection pipes manufactured at a specialized enterprise in Kharkiv.

The specialists from Metinvest-Promservice are currently replacing a section of pipeline over 300 meters wide and with a diameter of 630 millimetres. Overall, considering the repairs carried out in the summer, nearly 500 meters of heating pipelines will be replaced and prepared for the upcoming heating season.

Vyacheslav TRIGUB, Head of the Heat and Power Shop of the CHP, said, "Among the many tasks that our division performs, the main one is to prepare and maintain the heating season at Kamet Steel. The successful completion of the PTVM-50 boiler overhaul will increase the reliability of the equipment, which is crucial for providing heat supply. This will ensure comfortable working conditions for the plant's employees. Restoring all heating metal surfaces to their maximum efficiency will enhance the boiler's performance, reducing energy losses and maximizing the enterprise's heating capabilities.
