Modern technologies ensure the safety of work in the gas facilities. Recently, Kamet Steel has added 30 oxygen isolating regenerative respirators R-30EX to bolster its new equipment inventory at the gas rescue station.
For the second consecutive year, the enterprise has been implementing a modernization program for protective equipment. This program helps gas rescuers safely prevent and manage emergencies related to gas usage in production. Last year, despite the challenges of wartime, 50% of the fleet of this equipment was renewed.
For reference
R-30EX respirators are utilized as the primary personal protective equipment for an employee's respiratory system when working in an environment where breathing is not safe.
As a reminder, the R-30EX insulating regenerative respirators, which replace the R-34 class respirators, have several technical advantages. First of all, the protective effect of the device is extended to four hours, compared to two hours in the R-34. Additionally, there are mechanical signaling devices that indicate the need to stop work and evacuate a gas-hazardous area when using a respirator without an open oxygen cylinder, and also when the pressure in this cylinder drops to 5.5 MPa.
The advantages also include an increased volume of the regenerative cartridge, making it easier for the user to inhale and exhale. Modern auxiliary systems with wide straps and a waist belt, along with convenient device fixation, help reduce the physical load on the employee.
“Another step has been taken towards updating the gas protection equipment of the enterprise - it has now been modernized by over 70%. Based on the results of the implementation of the 2024 program, we anticipate a complete transition of the respirator fleet to the modern R-30EX. These respirators have proven to be reliable tools, assisting not only gas rescuers but also all employees in gas-consuming divisions of the plant. They introduce a new standard of safety during gas-related tasks,” said Roman GOLUB, Head of the Gas Rescue Station.
