Central Iron Ore Enrichment Works Continuing to Improve Working Conditions

Metinvest's Central Iron Ore Enrichment Works has implemented another project to improve working conditions for employees. In the crushing plant's administrative and amenity building, bathing facilities for women have been overhauled.

The main amenity building of the crushing plant has the capacity for 1,000 people. Bath and toilet rooms on the second floor have been recently rehabilitated there. A total of 1,200 m2 of space has been renovated, improving the working conditions for 150 female employees of the shop. According to the plant, the administrative and amenity building was built in 1980. Since then, it has undergone only minor cosmetic repairs. So amenity rooms required a fully-fledged renovation. The renovation was completed on time thanks to the teamwork of the Major Overhaul Department, Social Affairs Department, crushing plant, and representatives of the contractor.

As part of the renovation, the walls and floor were lined with ceramic tiles, suspended ceilings made of tile panels were installed, and the sewerage, ventilation, heating and water supply systems were replaced. Modern plumbing was installed.

Everything has been thought out down to the smallest detail for the comfort and convenience of employees: washbasins, lockers, mirrors, additional sockets, and hairdryers. Shower cabins were equipped with special hangers and soap dishes. New individual lockers for changing clothes have been installed in locker rooms.

"There are simple things which go a long way. By creating proper working and leisure conditions, the company shows its employees how important they are. This is a major ingredient of motivation. People are very satisfied, they appreciate being taken care of. It is necessary to start and end the working day on a positive note: enter a bright and cosy locker room, wash your hands in warm water, take a comfortable shower, put on the workwear, and get into the mood for work. This is not the first facility in our shop to be covered by the Workplace Amenities programme. We are confident that it will not be the last," said Oleksandr IVASHURA, head of the crushing plant at Central Iron Ore Enrichment Works.

"Central Iron Ore Enrichment Works' team has been steadily working to create and maintain comfortable working conditions for its employees, traditionally keeping focus on workplace amenities to match production tasks. Despite current adversities, we strive to increase the number of improved facilities. All our subdivisions and services have joined efforts to achieve this. After all, our objective is to provide proper working conditions for all employees, to create maximum comfort, and, therefore, zest for work," said Dmytro SHEVCHYK, General Director of Metinvest Group's Central Iron Ore Enrichment Works.
