Metinvest Polytechnic showcased career prospects to Zaporizhzhia’s youth

A meeting was held at Zaporizhstal between representatives of Metinvest Polytechnic and students from Zaporizhzhia’s lyceums and vocational colleges who are doing industrial practice at the plant. The young people were told about study opportunities at Metinvest Polytechnic, as well as prospects for employment and career growth within Metinvest.

Representatives of Ukraine’s first private mining and metallurgical university provided comprehensive information on admission, academic programmes, study conditions and the benefits of obtaining an engineering education at Metinvest Polytechnic. The educators stressed: Studying here is practice-oriented, delivered through modern, market-driven programmes, and students have the opportunity to develop both technical (hard) and leadership and communication (soft) skills.

Particularly inspiring for young people was the speech by alumnus Daniil Tymoshenko, now deputy chief power engineer for coke production at Zaporizhstal Integrated Iron and Steel Works.

"At Metinvest Polytechnic, they provide a real, modern education that already works. Later, at the enterprises, we integrate learning with practice, tackle business challenges and develop our own case studies. Students gain not only specialised knowledge but also valuable experience, developing communication and leadership qualities that will be useful everywhere,” says Daniil TYMOSHENKO

Daniil has worked his way up from an electrician to a managerial position in the engineering department. His professional success was made possible by a desire to grow, the opportunities offered by the university, and the motivational programmes in place at Metinvest enterprises.

For Metinvest employees, their children and students willing to work at the enterprises during and after their studies, the company offers education funded by Metinvest, covering tuition costs in full or in part. At Metinvest Polytechnic, students are offered a flexible study schedule that combines online lectures with hands-on practice at the enterprises. All academic programmes are in demand on the labour market and are developed with business requirements and production needs in mind. The full list of academic programmes is available on the official website. The university not only provides high-quality engineering education but also creates conditions for the all-round development of students and their career growth. Students can join research clubs, take an active role in student self-government and implement their own projects.

Representatives of Metinvest Polytechnic also explained the advantages and specifics of admission.

"Our university offers education at all levels – from professional junior bachelor to postgraduate studies. State-recognised education, a blend of remote learning with practical sessions without leaving production, deferment from mobilisation and the ability to plan admission in advance make studying accessible for those already working or planning to work at Metinvest Group enterprises and beyond. If you want to apply for a bachelor’s or master’s degree, you need to register for the NMT or EVI as early as February. And for the professional junior bachelor level, you can enrol without the NMT, just with a motivation letter,” noted Maksym SHTODA, associate professor at the Department of Metallurgy and Production Organisation at Metinvest Polytechnic.

The meeting at Zaporizhstal proved a valuable forum for dialogue, where young people received answers to all their questions about their future profession, learning opportunities and career prospects at Metinvest.

According to the educators, amid the transformation of industry and the country’s reconstruction, engineering professions are becoming strategically important. Training at MIP follows labour market-driven educational programmes and takes a practice-oriented approach, meaning today’s young people have the chance to become part of one of Ukraine’s most vital sectors and contribute to the country’s industrial recovery.
