Metinvest Delivers More Than 20 Ambulances to Military Medical Personnel in Ukrainian Defence Intelligence

Rinat Akhmetov and Vadym Novynskyi's Metinvest Group has delivered more than 20 specialised ambulances to the military medical staff of the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine (Defence Intelligence). The total cost of the vehicles, together with the cost of repairs and their delivery to Ukraine, is EUR 300,000.

Since the early days of the war, Metinvest has been providing regular aid to Ukraine’s defenders. In particular, the military personnel of Defence Intelligence have already received 1,000 special-purpose gear kits and 150 drones from the Group. The delivery of 20 specialised ambulances to military medical personnel, so they can save the lives of injured soldiers on the front line, is the next step.

Most of the vehicles have been delivered from Italy and have already demonstrated their speed at local medical centres. After being purchased by Metinvest, they have also undergone proper maintenance and repairs, so they are in good condition and ready to function under difficult conditions.

– Ukrainian volunteers from Naples helped us with the search for specialised ambulances. They travelled to local hospitals and agreed on the purchase and shipment of the vehicles from Europe to Ukraine. This process took about two months. For its part, Metinvest covered all of the costs associated with the purchase of the vehicles, their repairs and logistics. Overall, the Group allocated EUR 300,000 for this purpose, – said Alexander VODOVIZ, head of the project office of the CEO of Metinvest Group.

The ambulances purchased by Metinvest will operate in Ukraine’s current hotspots where they are most needed, in particular, in the east near Lysychansk and in the south.

– The importance of specialised ambulances on the front line can hardly be overstated. After all, the prompt evacuation of soldiers from where they have been injured or a stabilisation point to a hospital can save lives and reduce the likelihood of disability. For the duration of the war, we are trying to save every soldier, so the vehicles provided by Metinvest will help us in doing this,” said a military doctor serving in  Defence Intelligence with the call sign HOROBCHYK. – We are grateful to all Ukrainians and foreign citizens who are supporting our country’s defenders. We also thank Ukrainian businesses that are continuing to work, pay taxes and find additional resources to help the Armed Forces of Ukraine in such difficult times.

The ambulances are in good technical condition and ready for the installation of special equipment

– On the front line, ambulances experience wear and tear, as they also come under fire or run into mines, and they often break down. Of course, under such conditions, the fleet of specialised vehicles needs to be constantly renewed, so for us, 20 additional vehicles from Metinvest is of significant help and will satisfy our current needs. I am sure that all of the special forces of Defence Intelligence and platoons with which we are working will be grateful for them. Besides, the vehicles will also help save the lives of civilians who are injured on the front lines, – added Andriy YUSOV, a spokesman for Defence Intelligence.

Support for those defending Ukraine is one of the key areas of Metinvest's ‘steel front’ in the war. Since the beginning of the full-scale war in Ukraine, the Group has allocated UAH 1.5 billion to help Ukraine and Ukrainians.
