Metinvest Group has been supporting Ukraine's defenders since the first days of the Russian Federation's full-scale invasion of Ukraine. One of the areas of assistance is the fabrication of metal shelters to reinforce trenches and protect our soldiers from artillery shelling.
Today Metinvest has handed over three defensive structures to the brigade that repels constant enemy attacks in the Avdiivka sector.
"We are handing over three KVSUs to one of the brigades holding the line around Avdiivka. These are mobile dugouts, which can be used as a shelter to ensure the most reliable protection from enemy artillery shelling," said Oleksandr MYRONENKO, Chief Operating Officer of Metinvest Group.
Such modular shelters are manufactured by employees of different enterprises of the company. The structures are assembled from corrugated steel according to an improved design to suit the needs of the military. Each structure is 6 meters long and more than 2 meters in diameter. It can be easily disassembled for handling and transfer to other positions.
"These shelters will be installed immediately at the positions. They will be properly covered and equipped so that our soldiers have maximum comfort and protection while resting and doing some chores on the contact line," explained Oleksandr MYRONENKO, Chief Operating Officer of Metinvest Group.
It takes about 400 hours for specialists of Metinvest's enterprises to manufacture one such structure.
"Our soldiers are very pleased with these structures," says Anatolii ZINCHENKO, soldier of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, "firstly, each such dugout accelerates the construction of shelters in the field. Secondly, such a structure is very reliable, it can withstand even 155 mm shells. Thirdly, soldiers are comfortable inside. It can accommodate up to 30 people at a time."
All modular shelters for the military are multifunctional. There are wooden beds inside, and the raised floor can be used as storage. Each structure has special compartments for storing essentials and military gear. Potbelly stoves are installed for heating.
"We have got two structures in the Avdiivka sector. We have received three more today and will install them immediately. We also know that Metinvest is manufacturing six more for our brigade. This will not cover the entire section of the front line that we are holding in the Avdiivka sector, but it will protect our guys and help them cope with combat missions," said Anatolii ZINCHENKO.
As a reminder, Rinat Akhmetov's Steel Front military initiative provides continuous substantial assistance to the military. As part of it, more than 70 metal structures alone have been made. Metinvest Group's enterprises plan to continue manufacturing them until the end of the war.
