Metinvest-SMC continues to support Ukraine’s defenders with the best steel. As part of Rinat Akhmetov's Steel Front military initiative, the company has provided Operational Command South with metal products to make mobile buggies that are in great demand on the front lines.
These compact and nimble vehicles often show up in the frame in front-line photos and videos. However, this equipment has not been available to the Ukrainian army. Activists, volunteers and representatives of individual military associations are engaged in their production and delivery. Why is there such a demand for the buggies? The fact is that they are compact, fast, manoeuvrable, have strong cross-country capabilities and are easily camouflaged. In addition, these vehicles are relatively inexpensive. They are indispensable when it is necessary to conduct reconnaissance, attack in small groups, and undertake quick raids in the rear of the enemy. That is why the front buggy is a good alternative to the usual wheeled transport.
FACT
A buggy is a compact, light vehicle with strong cross-country capabilities and open wheels. They are used for off-road driving. Currently, there are several types of buggies, depending on their purpose and design features, for example: sports, military and desert buggies. In Ukraine, inventors and enthusiasts have developed the following buggy models: the Pegas 1.2; the FANTOM; the Prymara (‘ghost’); the Buggy MC; a light vehicle with cross-country capabilities (‘Azov’); Mamai; and the Yaryk (VOLS).
Metinvest-SMC was recently contacted by representatives of Operational Command South. The military needed equipment to make buggies. At the request of the defenders, the company provided without charge 3.8 tonnes of rolled metal, including angles, sheet and pipe. This is enough to make ten front-line minicars.
“The provision of small combat groups with mobile equipment is an important component for the successful performance of our military on combat missions. We are glad that, as part of Rinat Akhmetov's Steel Front military initiative, our products will help us bring the desired victory closer," said Ihor Tonev, General Director of Metinvest-SMC.
You too can help Ukraine’s defenders. If you have old models of Zhiguli 01-07 cars that are not being used, you can donate them to the Army. Write to Operational Command South on Facebook or email coll-centr_ok_pivden@post.mil.gov.ua, and specialists will make real four-wheeled warriors from this garage ballast.
As a reminder, Metinvest Group has been supporting the defenders of Ukraine since the first day of the full-scale war. So far, the Group has allocated more than UAH 1.6 billion to projects as part of Rinat Akhmetov's Steel Front military initiative.
