Metinvest Receives National Qualifications Agency Award

The National Qualifications Agency of Ukraine has recognised Metinvest Group in the category “For the Development of a Network of Qualification Centres.” In addition, Kamet Steel's Qualification Centre received special recognition for operating across the widest range of professional qualifications.

The awards were presented during the 6th International Forum “Human Capital: Transformation in Focus,” held in Kyiv at the initiative of the National Qualifications Agency and with the support of European partners.

Metinvest’s training and qualification centres enable employees to validate professional qualifications in more than 160 occupations. Training is delivered using simulators and training systems specifically designed to reflect modern production processes. Forum participants were able to see this first-hand at the event’s interactive demonstration sites.

The Kamet Steel's Qualification Centre has been recognised for the second consecutive year as the centre operating across the largest number of professional qualifications.

Visitors were able to learn more about the Kamet Steel Qualification Centre in the dedicated welding site. Overall, the Centre is authorised to validate 75 professional qualifications, the highest number in Ukraine. This achievement was recognised with a national award presented at the international forum.

The plant’s Qualification Centre was established during the challenging wartime period and is now operating successfully in cooperation with the company’s training centre. Its key objective is to validate or award professional qualifications to employees who acquired their skills through non-formal education or self-learning, gained experience abroad, or developed competencies through practical work. Amid a shortage of skilled industrial workers, the Centre provides employees with the opportunity to formally confirm their experience and knowledge or, where necessary, quickly retrain.

“I had the honour and pleasure of representing the Kamet Steel Qualification Centre in the practical demonstration site of the international forum. In particular, our location featured a Fronius welding simulator, which allowed every visitor to safely practise skills that, in real production conditions, require a high level of precision and responsibility. Most importantly, it provided an opportunity to learn about the training and assessment standards for welders applied at the company’s enterprises. Among dozens of other professions, our Qualification Centre delivers a full-cycle training programme for welders. This is an excellent opportunity for employees to develop and formally validate their knowledge and skills in a profession that never loses its relevance or demand in production, while also motivating them to master new, modern technologies,” said Andrii VINNIK, Head of the Welding and Parts Reinforcement Laboratory at Kamet Steel.
