Rinat Akhmetov and Vadym Novynskyi's Metinvest Group delivered 450 sets of armoured vests and helmets to the 114th Territorial Defence Forces of Kyiv region serving on the front line.
The company allocated EUR 10 million for the purchase of protective equipment for the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the territorial defence forces. The first batch of 5,000 armoured vests, as well as helmets and first-aid kits, has already been purchased.
Modern protective equipment is purchased in Europe and is made of high-quality materials. In particular, armoured vests have a fourth level of protection, which will provide complete protection for our soldiers from direct bullet strikes or from being hit by shrapnel from artillery shells.
"The background is as follows: The President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky appealed to business with a request to help our country in difficult times in order to provide the army and the territorial defence forces with personal protective equipment for military personnel. Rinat Akhmetov's Metinvest Group has responded and is currently providing assistance and purchasing armoured vests, helmets and first-aid kits. First of all, they are provided to the territorial defence forces that will stand at the forefront of defence in Kyiv region, because Kyiv region is the heart of our state. And we cannot allow the enemy to somehow occupy this territory,” said Oleg MATVIENKO, the head of the military administration of Kyiv region.
Rinat Akhmetov and Vadym Novynskyi’s Metinvest Group has been supporting the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the territorial defence forces since the beginning of the war. To help the defenders and protect the cities, Metinvest's enterprises and partners have already manufactured and handed over about 40,000 hedgehog anti-tank obstacles, as well as more than 10,000 studded chains against wheeled vehicles and anti-landing hedgehogs.
Metinvest's enterprises have also mastered the production of armoured plates for armoured vests, and are providing materials for strengthening protective structures, transport and fuel.
