In 2025, Metinvest Group, as part of Rinat Akhmetov's Steel Front defence initiative, purchased and handed over electronic warfare (EW) equipment amounting to UAH 161 million to the 1st Corps of the Ukrainian National Guard "Azov."
Metinvest systematically supports the unit. This time, it concerns mobile and stationary EW systems used to suppress enemy drone control channels, reduce navigation accuracy, and protect positions and vehicles from aerial reconnaissance and FPV attacks.
"Today, EW equipment is one of the key elements for survival on the front line. When radio-electronic protection is active, the enemy, so to speak, loses his eyes and hands. This directly impacts the safety of personnel and the fulfilment of combat missions," said a representative of the 1st Corps of the Ukrainian National Guard "Azov".
Currently, EW equipment is among the top priorities requested by combat units.

"The war has rapidly evolved into a drone war. Thus, electronic warfare equipment is not optional, but a basic means of protection. We deliberately invest in technological solutions that deliver a lasting, systematic impact rather than one-off support," said Oleksandr VODOVIZ, Head of the CEO's Office of Metinvest Group.
The supplied equipment enables units to more effectively cover their positions, logistics routes, and concentration areas, reducing the risk of air strikes. That is why EW equipment remains one of the most in-demand areas of support on the front line.
In 2025, the total support from Rinat Akhmetov's Steel Front to the 1st Corps of the Ukrainian National Guard "Azov" amounted to over UAH 600 million.
Rinat Akhmetov's Steel Front is a defence initiative that consolidates support from all SCM businesses for the Defence Forces of Ukraine, with Metinvest Group serving as the key production and logistics hub. As part of the project, the company not only procures various types of equipment, but also manufactures critically important products from its own steel, including mobile steel shelters ("kryivka"), anti-mine trawls, and protective screens for armoured vehicles. The total amount allocated by Rinat Akhmetov to support the military and civilians since the start of the full-scale invasion amounts to UAH 12.8 billion.
