Metinvest's Central GOK held a 24-hour shutdown of its Technical Power Supply Shop and Slurry Department, crushing and beneficiation plant of the enterprise, during which important repairs and inspections of equipment were carried out. Furthermore, Pelletizing Plant underwent scheduled preventive maintenance.
Every year, the enterprise plans and carries out 24-hour shutdowns of shops to carry out repair of power, process and mechanical equipment, aimed at preventing of unscheduled shutdowns and providing technical water to subdivisions of the enterprise throughout the year. This measure has a significant impact on the stability of operations and fulfilment of production tasks.
According to Sergii Yanovskyi, Chief Power Engineer at Central GOK, the main works carried out include repair and maintenance of pumping equipment, valves, and pipelines of the station of the recirculating water supply in the Technical Power Supply Shop. In the Slurry Department, it was repaired and inspected shut-off valves, restored stone lining, repaired cracks and seams in the feeder and distributing trough of the slurry pumping station.
An effective work was done at the beneficiation plant during the equipment shutdown. The trays of the tailings channels that transport mill tailings were cleaned. 56 m² of lining on the sides of the troughs was renewed, and over 30 valves and gate valves were replaced. "The work was completed in a quality manner and on time," said Oleksandr Sidletskyi, head of the Beneficiation Plant.
"At the crushing plant, a number of necessary repairs were also carried out that can only be done when the plant is shut down," confirmed Oleksandr Ivashura, the plant's head. Here, the armor of the charging hoppers on the bodies of the 1-2 and 3-4 crushing stages was replaced. Incoming switches on the power supply and distribution units were also inspected. As in the other shops that were shut down for a day, special attention was paid to the serviceability of the inlet valves of the process water supply network at the crushing plant.
During the shutdown of four shops, the pelletizing plant also underwent scheduled preventive maintenance. At the pelletizing plant, specialists paid attention to the serviceability of the drip collector, gas ducts, induration machine, mixer, and conveyor transport to ensure that all its parts operate smoothly and reliably after the plant resumes operations.
