A Heroes Among Us video course is now available on the Megogo streaming platform. It will be useful for managers who want to help their veteran employees return to civilian life. The course was developed by DTEK Academy and Metinvest. It consists of lectures from experts in various fields who have practical experience working with war veterans. The war veterans – DTEK and Metinvest employees who stood up to defend the country and returned home and to their jobs after their service – have also joined to the development of the course. It is based entirely on their experience.
In the Heroes Among Us video course, the war veterans share their experiences, and psychologists, HR specialists, and managers who have experience working with former military personnel and understand the real feelings and emotions of veterans after returning to civilian life share advice and effective support tools.
The course will help managers and teams better understand the needs of veteran employees, their strengths, how to effectively build a dialogue and assist in socialisation and adaptation.
"Veterans themselves were directly involved in the development of the Heroes Among Us video course, and it is entirely based on their experience. These are DTEK and Metinvest employees who stood up to defend the country and returned home and to their jobs after serving. Since the beginning of the war, more than 5,200 DTEK employees have joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine to defend the country. As of today, about 700 veterans have already returned to civilian life, and more than 60% of them have returned to their jobs. We treat each and every one of them with respect and pride and do our best to make their return to civilian life as comfortable and easy as possible. Among other things, we created the Heroes Among Us project," said Tetiana SHЕRMAN, Head for Marketing and Communications at DTEK Academy.
«Along with helping our defenders who continue to defend Ukraine at the frontline, we focus on supporting those who have already returned from the front and started working at Metinvest's enterprises. There are more than 1,000 such people. To this end, the company is creating an entire ecosystem for the integration of war veterans into civilian life. We pay attention to the health and psycho-emotional state of demobilised employees. At the same time, we understand how important the role of the team is in this process – the colleagues who will be around veterans in the workplace every day. Therefore, the Heroes Among Us learning course will give employees a deeper understanding of the difficulties and needs faced by our defenders and how to help them. The successful adaptation of veterans is a great responsibility and a common path that we will overcome together," said Tetiana PЕTRUK, Chief Sustainability Officer of Metinvest Group, after the course presentation.
