During the spring session of the “Blogger Camp” project organised by the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation, an interactive activity was conducted by Metinvest Digital.
An online lecture for the campers was delivered by Maksym Balaniuk, Innovation and Development Director at Metinvest Digital, Kateryna Sumarieva, Talent Development Manager at Metinvest Digital, and Oksana Ishchuk, Project Manager at the Foundation. This special session was dedicated to artificial intelligence (AI).
“We sought to show children that artificial intelligence is not solely the domain of office-based professionals, the so-called ‘white-collar’ workers. It is actively used across all sectors – from heavy and light industry to other manufacturing fields – and this is precisely what our country urgently needs today. We wanted young people to see these opportunities here, so that they choose to stay, develop their talents, and realise their potential in Ukraine,” said Maksym BALANIUK.

Camp participants – children affected by the war and returned from occupation – were introduced to how neural networks operate and how AI is already transforming the modern world. Teenagers learned to distinguish AI-generated video from authentic footage, became familiar with the principles of digital safety, and discussed how artificial intelligence will support future professions.
"The 'Peaceful Recreation for Children of Ukraine’ project continues to develop. It was during the spring session that we first integrated an interactive online masterclass. This marks the first introduction of a STEM component into the project. The masterclass was delivered jointly with Metinvest Digital in an interactive format that was very well received by the children,” said Oksana ISHCHUK, Project Manager at the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation.
Participants of the “Blogger Camp” also shared their impressions of the session and their experience in the project. Teenagers noted that the lesson on artificial intelligence proved not only informative but also helped them to gain a fresh perspective on the possibilities of modern technologies and their own future.
“It was very interesting. I learnt a great deal, although I was already familiar with some of the information. I would like to become a simultaneous interpreter, and AI can help me improve my English. Perhaps it may even provide some useful advice,” says 16‑year‑old camper Alisa.

“The most interesting aspect for me was that, with the help of AI, it is possible to influence people in certain ways. People may not always be aware of it, but there are specialists who use AI to shape certain trends or set directions – for example, in fashion or broader trends. I am currently planning to pursue development in the field of IT, and therefore this training was both very interesting and highly beneficial for me,” says 15‑year‑old Polina, a participant of the ‘Blogger Camp’ programme.
'Blogger Camp' consistently offers engaging and diverse activities that help Ukrainian young people to believe in their own abilities, relax and improve their health in the fresh air, make new friends, and look with confidence towards their own future and that of their country, despite the challenges of the present day.
Through the ‘Rinat Akhmetov – For Children. Peaceful Recreation for Children of Ukraine’ programme, nearly 5,000 children from across the country have already been given the opportunity to recover their strength, find hope, and gain new experiences. Over the course of 20 years of its activities, the Foundation has provided support to more than six million children across Ukraine.
