Honoured metallurgist from Zaporizhzhia turned 85 years old

Colleagues from his cherished enterprise congratulated the veteran from Zaporizhstal.

Victor Vlasenkov

For more than 40 years, Viktor Mykolayovych VLASENKOV, a Zaporizhstal worker, who is now on a well-deserved rest, had worked at the plant. However, even now the veteran is with his cherished enterprise in spirit. And recently, Viktor Mykolayovych celebrated his 85th birthday. Colleagues from Zaporizhstal came to visit in order to congratulate the man.

"Our veterans are our pride. For many years they glorified the enterprise with their work, helped to develop it, and shared their valuable experience and knowledge with younger generation. And now, years later, Zaporizhstal has been maintaining the tradition of devotion to work. On behalf of the entire team of the plant, I congratulate Viktor Mykolayovych on his anniversary. I wish him sincere happiness, health and peace,” said Volodymyr RYBACHONOK, Head of Department on Personnel Cooperation at Zaporizhstal.

Viktor Vlasenkov’s career began at the plant back in 1960. Then, as a young guy, he worked as a rollerman's helper in a thin-sheet shop, which is now called a hot rolling shop.

Victor learned quickly, thoroughly studied all the intricacies of his profession, and soon got a promotion - he became the operator of the hot rolling mill of the finishing train. During his work, he received numerous awards. In particular, he received the title of Honorary Metallurgist, and then became an Honoured Metallurgist of Ukraine.

"Over the decades of work at Zaporizhstal, I have passed on my knowledge to a considerable number of young specialists, and there are those who continue to work at the plant today. But most importantly, I always loved my job, immersed myself in it, tried to learn something new, and this helped me in my professional development,” recalls Victor VLASENKOV.

The metallurgist is convinced: the plant today is still the centre of stability and reliability. That is why entire families still work at the enterprise, and the traditions of mentoring and mutual assistance are still alive in the team.

Now, being retired, Viktor Vlasenkov often remembers his work at Zaporizhstal and keeps in touch with his colleagues. And for the younger generation of metallurgists who have to work in wartime, the man wishes inspiration and unity.

"Metallurgists have always been praised for their endurance and power. At any time, Zaporizhstal workers always “kept the line” and helped each other. Now these qualities have become even more important. And I am sure that Ukraine will win soon, and the plant will prosper and glorify our peaceful and independent state,” the veteran added.
