The overhaul of the third category lasted around the clock for six days. Blowing up of Blast Furnace #2 will last until the end of this week. The plant allocated more than UAH 85 mln for the renewal of the blast furnace.
"Specialists of Blast Furnace Shop and engineering service of JV "Zaporizhstal", together with the specialists of "Metinvest-Promservice", LLC and PJSC "Zaporozhogneupor", fully completed the planned work on the renovation of the second blast furnace. The overhaul was preceded by a thorough preparatory stage, which made it possible to reduce the repair time by a day," said Roman SLOBODIANYUK, General Director of Zaporizhstal.
In total, about 200 specialists of the plant and contractors worked at the site. Among the main works performed are the replacement of the charging equipment, the repair of the cast yard equipment, hydraulics and lubrication systems, the repair of steel structures and rail tracks of the bunker rack, as well as the maintenance of the aspiration systems of the production unit.
The main purpose of Blast Furnace No. 2 repair is to increase the reliability of equipment and the stability of the production process at the blast furnace, to improve product quality.
It will be recalled that during the full-scale war, JV "Zaporizhstal" allocated more than UAH 1.2 billion for the renovation of production equipment and treatment facilities operating in the complex. During the full-scale invasion, the main focus of the program was on maintaining and revamping equipment to ensure its reliable operation in unpredictable conditions.
