More than one million tonnes of ore have been extracted since the beginning of the year by Kolachevskyi Mine, the only business unit of Consolidated Iron Ore that produces iron ore through underground mining operations. This achievement is the result of the daily commitment of the miners, who keep production running despite wartime challenges, work in place of colleagues who have taken up the defence of Ukraine, and master modern equipment. On Miner's Day, Metinvest honoured employees whose professionalism and dedication help the enterprise continue operating and developing.
There is no such thing as a secondary role in the mine. A development miner prepares the working face, the driller ensures the precision of the technological process, the ground support worker is responsible for the stability and safety of underground workings, the electric and gas welder maintains equipment in good working order, and the electric locomotive operator ensures the movement of underground transport. Each employee works in their respective area, but they all share the same goal: ensuring the stable operation of the mine.
Today, this is especially important. Due to the war, some of the enterprise’s experienced employees are currently defending Ukraine on the front line. Those continuing to work in production must master adjacent professions, take on additional responsibility, and perform the duties of absent colleagues. At the same time, the requirements for safety, quality and efficiency remain as important as ever.
This year, to mark Miner's Day, the employees of Kolachevskyi Mine were awarded Letters of Appreciation from General Director of Consolidated Iron Ore in recognition of their personal contribution to ensuring the stable operation of the enterprise during wartime. Among those honoured were drilling rig operator Denys Kozlenko, Deputy Head of Underground Section No. 22 Mykola Saloid, underground electric and gas welder Oleksii Peliukhov, ground support worker Andrii Haralskyi, and Deputy Head of an Underground Section Serhii Serhiichuk.
A special distinction, a Certificate of Honour from Metinvest Group accompanied by a UAH 40,000 award certificate, was presented to the team of In-Mine Transport Section No. 10, led by Denys Hrymaliuk. This distinction was awarded in recognition of the team’s significant contribution to improving production efficiency and achieving the best operational performance results.
The work of the transport section is one of those areas where success depends particularly on effective teamwork. Underground, everything must happen on time: the movement of ore, materials and equipment. The work of many other operations depends on the reliable and consistent performance of the transport section. Therefore, this award recognises not only a production achievement, but also the strength of teamwork.
For many years of dedicated service, significant labour achievements, high level of professionalism, contribution to maintaining the stable operation of the enterprise under martial law, and personal contribution to preserving Kryvyi Rih’s industrial potential, Serhii Lytvyn, a mine development worker at Kolachevskyi Mine, was awarded a Certificate of Honour by the Executive Committee of Kryvyi Rih City Council. For a development miner, professional experience is not merely a matter of the number of years worked.
Certificates of Honour from the Executive Committee of Ternivskyi District Council were awarded to Kolachevskyi Mine tippler operator Oksana Halaidenko and locomotive operator Serhii Levanov in recognition of their dedicated work and professionalism. Their professions may be different, but each plays an important role in a single production process.

It is closely associated with our large underground business unit, a team distinguished by its extensive experience, professional resilience, and ability to perform even under the most challenging conditions. Today, each of you is holding your own front line. Someone is at their post, underground, ensuring the stability of production. Someone is serving in the ranks of Ukraine’s Defence Forces, protecting our country and its future. I wish you and your loved ones good health, strength, and confidence in the future. May mining traditions continue to live on and be passed down to future generations, and may our collective efforts bring Ukraine’s Victory and recovery closer," said Ihor TONIEV, General Director of Metinvest’s Consolidated Iron Ore, in his greeting to the miners.
