Dear friends!
This year has been the toughest in the history of independent Ukraine. Russia is a terrorist state that is seeking to destroy our country, killing civilians and destroying industry, energy facilities, schools, hospitals and residential buildings.
This year has been also extremely difficult for Metinvest Group. Because of the hostilities, the Group’s facilities in Mariupol and Avdiivka have been affected and Mariupol has been temporarily occupied. The enterprises in Zaporizhzhia, Kryvyi Rih, Kamianske and Pokrovsk are also at risk. Hundreds of employees and members of their families have been killed and injured. We share the pain of those who have lost their relatives in the war and offer our heartfelt sympathy.
Despite everything, Metinvest’s team is finding ways to prevail. After all, the resilience of the national economy, the sustainability of local communities and the ability of our country to defend itself from the invaders depend on our invincibility
From the first day of the war, the Group has been part of Rinat Akhmetov’s Steel Front military initiative. And now every tenth defender has a bulletproof vest from Metinvest. Our steel protects the Ukrainian military in mobile dugouts. It keeps them warm with field stoves. It protects our land with anti-tank hedgehogs. Drones and thermal imagers from the Group help to stay one step ahead of the enemy. Vehicles transport the wounded and perform tactical missions.
Indeed, this year has been one exhausting marathon, but during this time we have become stronger and more resilient. Each has provided support to the other. And together we are a reliable pillar for the whole of Ukraine.
I thank employees for their commitment to their work. I am profoundly grateful to those who have gone to defend the country. I would also like to offer special thanks to volunteers and benefactors. In coordination with the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation, we launched the Saving Lives humanitarian project. Thanks to donations from all over the world, we have managed to help hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians with food, medicine and other essentials
We have a fight ahead of us. No one knows how long it will last. However, the war will certainly end in Ukraine’s victory, and I believe that this will happen in 2023. And the victory will entail great reconstruction. After the victory, just like now, Metinvest will be a pillar of Ukraine’s recovery. We will build factories, and our steel will help to renew cities.
I wish us all resilience, unity and unbreakable faith in the new year and the future.
Glory to Ukraine!
