Vasyl Zavhorodniy, a foreman of the Cold Rolling Shop at Zaporizhstal, supports the plant's volunteer movement.
Vasyl Zavhorodniy is a member of the plant's volunteer community since last year, helping internally displaced persons and the Armed Forces. He says he felt that he had to contribute to bringing the victory closer and support Ukrainians who suffered from the military aggression of the occupiers.
- Last summer, I joined the volunteer movement of Zaporizhstal. Since then, I have worked in Metinvest's centers for internally displaced persons in Zaporizhzhia, and now I continue to volunteer in one of them. I see the meaning of life in helping those who suffered from Russian aggression and in supporting the country's economy by working at the plant. This is what I can do and do to bring the victory closer, - Vasyl ZAVHORODNIY says.
Here, in Zaporizhstal's volunteer youth hub, Vasyl spends almost all his free time with his fellow steelworkers. Sorting and distributing humanitarian packages, providing for the everyday life of IDP families, making trench candles, covers and camouflage nets for the military - all this has become a routine for the Zaporizhstal employee.
- I alternate between volunteering and my work. One day here at the hub, the next day I go to work. There is almost no free time to rest, we are constantly trying to be here to help people, - Vasyl added.
The specialist has recently completed a professional development course at Metinvest Polytechnic to develop in his chosen profession. Vasyl admits that he plans to combine his work at Zaporizhstal with volunteering as long as it will be needed.
- Today each of us is doing everything possible on our own front to rebuild everything that has been destroyed and develop our homeland after the victory. It is our duty to support each other, the plant, the country and our defenders. The plant, as always, remains our backbone and support for Ukraine, - Vasyl said.
