Representatives of the company's dedicated directorates and companies took part in the conference to discuss projects aimed at improving the quality of steel products.
It was no accident that Zaporizhstal was chosen as a conference venue - the steelworks is one of Ukraine's key steel producers nowadays. As a matter of fact, based on the figures for 2023, every second tonnes of Ukrainian steel is produced at Zaporizhstal.
While this reflects the scale and the role the company plays for the national mining and metals sector, this also requires even greater responsibility from Zaporizhzhia steelmakers in terms of quality and customer focus.
"In our work, we always strive to keep up with trends: to stay tuned to the changes in the domestic and global markets and the transformation of customer demands and to plan ahead. Even in unpredictable times, we were able not only to survive, but also to re-engineer our usual processes and expand our order book in response to customer requests. Today, we must be flexible for our customers and, at the same time, uncompromisingly demanding of ourselves and our products," said Roman SLOBODIANIUK, General Director of Zaporizhstal, in his opening remarks at the conference.
During the conference, speakers outlined the state of the steel market and customer requirements for steel products and discussed the company's initiatives to improve product quality.
"Previously, Zaporizhstal mostly worked for the domestic market, focusing only on the customer needs. Nowadays, the company exports nearly 50% of its products and is developing new markets - and with them come new requirements for product quality. Improving product quality and expanding the product line is the manufacturer's response to market demand, which demonstrates the flexibility and customer focus of the business, as well as the professionalism of the team," said Andrii YEMCHENKO, Metinvest's Chief Technology Officer.
As a reminder, in 2023, Zaporizhstal launched 14 new products. The company is committed to expanding the product portfolio and improving the quality. Stable operation and increased production capacity of the steels are key to contributing to the country's budget.
"It is necessary that Ukrainian businesses work, contribute to the country's budget and strengthen its economy, and support their own workforce and the cities and towns where they operate. Adherence to these values requires us to constantly work on strengthening our market presence, developing a competitive edge and providing high-quality customer service. We work together on the common tasks in different formats, and the customer focus conference is one of them,’ Roman Slobodianiuk said in conclusion.
The conference resulted in a number of practical solutions for achieving and maintaining consistently high quality of Zaporizhstal's rolled steel products, which will be implemented in the near future.
