The participants of Strong Generation Camp -  the Future returned from psychological rehabilitation

Young residents of Zaporizhzhia were able to replenish their forces in the West of Ukraine thanks to the Metinvest project.

Strong Generation Camp - The future is the psychological rehabilitation of war-affected children of Metinvest employees mobilized to the Armed Forces of Ukraine and internally displaced employees from all the company's enterprises, as well as children who lost loved ones in the war.

The kids spent two weeks in a camp in Western Ukraine. In total, three trips to the Carpathians were held this summer, and approximately 85 children of employees of Metinvest's Zaporizhia enterprises took part in the project. There, the young travellers had a rich, useful, and bright program.

- In addition to the fact that the children underwent psychological rehabilitation and worked with professional psychologists for two weeks, there were also art therapy, trips to the mountains and rivers, excursions, various parties, and fun active activities. The children had the opportunity to show themselves and their creative potential, and this is also important in such a program, - noted the program coordinator, Stanislav Lysytsia.

Anna Kupriy met her children - Artem and Maxym - after the course of psychological rehabilitation. She is very grateful for the opportunity for children to escape from the war and have a good time.

- We agreed easily to the trip, because the situation in the country is difficult, and the children need to take their minds off. They were in touch the whole time, which is cool because we were really worried. This rehabilitation is very useful and the correct initiative. Because here children are in constant stress and in a "suspended" state, which can harm even an adult's strong mental health. And there they did not hear air alerts, and developed, as it should be. We are very grateful to Metinvest and international partners for such support and care for our children, - says Anna Kupriy.

The children are also satisfied with the trip to the Carpathians.

- We went hiking, danced every day, and spent a lot of time outside. We were caught in a heavy hailstorm, it was a great feeling, I liked it. In addition, we talked to psychologists, played with them, and watched cartoons. We missed our parents very much, but that made meeting them at home even more pleasant, - explained Maksym.

The Kudinkovs also enjoyed the trip. In addition to classes with art therapists and psychologists, Artem and Nastya managed to climb the mountains and visit Synevyr Lake in two weeks. Mother Svitlana Kudinkova met the children.

-  Strong Generation Camp  - the Future is a very cool initiative, vital for us. So we are grateful to Metinvest for paying attention to our children. It's great! The children are happy. When they were in the camp, we didn't have much time for communication - they were busy: classes on psychological rehabilitation, hikes, clubs, jeeping, vats, trip to Synevyr, to the mountains. This rehabilitation is useful for children because, for almost two years of the war, they are under stress, worries, and not in the best emotions. However, this trip was a good opportunity to restore mental health, and in addition to receive professional psychological consulting. They returned with a good mood, new forces for studying! – noted Svitlana Kudinkova.

The humanitarian initiative "Saving Lives" takes care of the physical and psychological recovery of Ukrainians who suffered from the war. Since 2022, in cooperation with Protez Hub, the project has helped military personnel and civilians with amputations to start a full life. Currently, 60 injured people are undergoing prosthetics and treatment at various stages, 20 of whom have already received prostheses worth up to EUR 30 thousand. The project also participated in the "Unbreakable Mom" rehabilitation program from the Masha Foundation.

Since 2022, the program has helped almost 300 mothers and their children recover from war injuries on joint shifts, which are partnered by Metinvest. In July, "Saving Lives" and the UN Global Compact in Ukraine, with the assistance of the Zaporizhia Regional Council and other partners, opened the first community center "Oplich HAB" for the psychological rehabilitation of Ukrainians injured in the war. So far, 125 people asked the hub for support. The humanitarian project plans to open such centers in other cities where Metinvest enterprises operate.
