The Free Waves project for the rehabilitation of war veterans has been launched in Kamianske

In Kamianske, in one of the city's swimming pool complexes, with the support of Metinvest Group, the Free Waves project for the physical and psychological rehabilitation of veterans was launched. The unique initiative offers demobilized defenders free swimming lessons according to a special method developed by the famous Ukrainian swimmer, world and European champion in swimming, silver medalist of the Olympic Games, Denis Silantiev.

Since 2024, the program has successfully proven itself in Zaporizhzhia and Kryvyi Rih. Silantiev's technique uses swimming as the main tool for recovery from serious injuries, as it reduces stress on the joints, improves coordination and endurance. In addition, water therapy helps to reduce stress, significantly improves sleep and mood. Thanks to the Free Waves project, veterans have the opportunity not only to restore their health, but also to find new points of support, adapt to peaceful life, and feel care and gratitude from society.

The coach of the program will be the master of sports of international class, world champion in swimming, Dmitry Kraevsky. Classes will be held three times a week, during which the experienced coach will pay individual attention to each participant, taking into account the specifics of injuries and human needs.

Oleksandr TKACHUK, HSE Director of PJSC "Kamet-Steel":

"On behalf of Metinvest Group, I express my deep gratitude to our defenders for their courage and dedication. And I am glad to be present here today, at the opening of a unique project for the rehabilitation of veterans. The "Free waves" will help them not only restore their health, but also find new strength and opportunities for a full life after the war. In order to make the training accessible to people with special needs, the pool where the classes will take place is equipped with a mobile lift and an inclusive elevator. Therefore, we invite veterans of Kamet Steel and representatives of veteran organizations of the city to join the rehabilitation program to improve their physical and mental health."

Denis SILANTIEV, world and European champion in swimming:

"The project for the rehabilitation of veterans "Free Waves" was launched in Zaporizhzhia, then in Kryvyi Rih, and today we are happy to open it here in Kamianske. Our technique is more than just physical exercises. This is a comprehensive approach to the rehabilitation of defenders, which aims to help them recover both physically and psychologically. In Zaporizhzhia, we have already received excellent results – the project participants have significantly improved their well-being. We are sure that in Kamianske "Free Waves" will be an important step towards the full recovery and full life of our heroes."

Oleksiy TOKOVY, veteran, a furnace helper at BOF Shop:

"I am incredibly touched and grateful for such a unique initiative as the Free Waves project!  I myself am currently undergoing rehabilitation after being wounded, I will return to work soon. So I understand how important such rehabilitation programs are for veterans. They are a confirmation that we, Ukrainians, are an indomitable and unconquered nation. Water classes are exactly what you need to restore both physical and psychological health after the war. I will definitely visit the pool and recommend it to my sworn brothers. After all, this is extremely important for our full recovery and rehabilitation in peaceful life."
