Modern healthcare is becoming more accessible even in remote villages. Another renovated outpatient clinic has opened in the Hleiuvatka community. This is an example of a successful partnership between local authorities and Metinvest. The community funded the renovation of the facility, while its partners helped procure modern medical equipment, a lift for patients with limited mobility, and improve the surrounding area with accessibility in mind. NGO "Kryvyi Rih Foundation for the Future" coordinated the project.
This is already the fourth family medicine clinic in the Hleiuvatka community to be renovated and equipped through the combined efforts of Metinvest and the local budget. Work on the project began in 2023. The modern healthcare facility is now fully equipped and ready to serve nearly 1,000 residents from its elder's [starosta] district. The outpatient clinic is designed for one family doctor. The doctor is also provided with housing, allowing them to settle in the community with their family. The facility includes a laboratory, rooms for functional diagnostics, physiotherapy and vaccinations, dedicated premises for dental and gynaecological care, a reception area, and a fully equipped shelter.
“To date, nearly 870 patients have registered with our practice. During a working day, we are able to see 10 to 12 patients while ensuring that we spend enough time with each of them to conduct screening. Thanks to Metinvest, we have all the equipment we need to carry out blood and urine tests. We can also perform ECGs, general ultrasound examinations, and various physiotherapy procedures,” says Oleksandr SHYIAN, a general practitioner in family medicine.
Over the three years of renovation, all utilities in the old outpatient clinic building were replaced, interior and exterior finishing works were completed in the building and basement, and the roof structure was replaced. A modular boiler house was built next to the clinic, and a high-capacity generator was installed to supply electricity in the event of power outages. The partners also ensured accessibility and safety for both patients and medical staff.
“Thanks to the joint efforts of our community's deputies and our long-standing, reliable partnership with Metinvest, we were able to provide residents of villages remote from Kryvyi Rih with a modern outpatient clinic equipped with everything needed, even during the war. We have created more than just a healthcare facility. We also care about our specialists, who regularly undergo training and continue to develop their professional skills. We invite family doctors to join our community, offering housing, a benefits package and competitive salaries,” said Dmytro HURIEIEV, First Deputy Head of the Hleiuvatka Village Council.
According to Olena LESHCHENKO, Director of "Kryvyi Rih Foundation for the Future", the NGO that coordinates social partnership projects, further improvements are expected in other areas of life in the Hleiuvatka community this year. As part of the memorandum of cooperation, Metinvest will help bolster the local authorities' infrastructure development capabilities, support educational institutions, and continue its efforts to ensure the community residents have access to drinking water.
