Metinvest's British rolling mill Spartan UK has signed a contract for the supply of 1,600 tons of steel plates for the construction of the new Sizewell C nuclear power plant on the Suffolk coast (county in East Anglia). This is one of the largest energy projects in the UK in recent decades.
Sizewell C is expected to deliver clean power for the supply of up to six million homes and create up to 10,000 jobs at peak construction.
According to Ian Robinson, Sales Manager of Spartan UK, the final dimensions for the production of the first batch of thick plates have already been received - 800 tons will be delivered in August, and the rest in the third quarter of 2025.
The construction has not yet begun, but preliminary renderings of the Sizewell C facility have already been released in the form of artistic images.

"This is a moment of pride for Spartan UK. We are honored to participate in a project that not only strengthens the country's energy security, but also demonstrates the strength and reliability of British production," said Ian ROBINSON.
The construction of the Sizewell C nuclear power plant will be the largest public investment in clean energy in the XXI century. For the first time, British consumers will become co-owners of a nuclear power plant. This project is key to the UK's ambitions to become a clean energy superpower and build a sustainable, low-carbon future.
