Metinvest Group is launching a second project at Northern Iron Ore as part of its large-scale programme to produce high-quality direct reduction (DR) pellets, used in direct reduced iron (DRI) technology to produce ‘green’ steel.On 30 January, Metinvest Sichstal – the subsidiary responsible for implementing the Group’s strategic investment projects – signed an agreement with global technology equipment supplier Metso to develop basic engineering to integrate a new flotation concentration complex into the concentrate production process at Northern Iron Ore. This stage is scheduled for completion by the end of 2026.The project will increase the iron content in standard concentrate to 70.8%, while reducing the proportion of impurities (silicon and aluminium oxides) to 2%. During the war, the main focus has been on creating safe conditions in educational institutions. Currently, in the village of Novyi Starodub in the Petrivka territorial community of the Kirovohrad region, the Dzvinochok kindergarten is undergoing major roof repairs and the construction of a shelter for its pupils as part of a new project. At present, around fifty children attend this institution. Ensuring children's safety during their education is an unconditional requirement in wartime. Because of the lack of a shelter, local authorities were forced to temporarily close the kindergarten.
