The workforce of Metinvest’s Consolidated Iron Ore is undergoing the video training programme “Protecting Life Under Wartime Conditions”. By November, a total of 8,627 employees will have completed the training. The programme is delivered during shift handover meetings, briefings, and routine workplace meetings.This war has created new risks that everyone must be prepared to face. For this reason, in 2026 the HSE Directorate of Metinvest’s Consolidated Iron Ore intensified its focus on safety issues associated with wartime threats.The video training programme was launched on 15 July. In total, 1,110 training sessions have been scheduled, covering 8,627 employees across all categories, including managers. This was the case on that tragic night, August 11, when enemy Russian troops attacked a peaceful industrial site.Andriy Shvaika was born in Severodonetsk, Luhansk region. He began his professional career in metallurgy in Zaporizhzhia, where he worked at enterprises that provide repair and maintenance of metallurgical production. He devoted more than 18 years of his life to Zaporizhstal. In recent years, Andriy worked as a foreman for the repair of equipment at the site for the repair of lifting and transport equipment of the Metallurgical Equipment Maintenance and Repair Shop No. 1. Together with his team, he carried out repairs at blast furnace production facilities. It was a difficult and responsible job, which he knew well. His experience was also needed at other enterprises of Metinvest. During business trips, Andriy worked, in particular, at Kamet-Steel, where he joined the re
