We have faced many trials – crises, transformations, a pandemic – and for almost half of our history SCM has operated in the midst of a brutal war that began in our native Donbas. Over these years, we have lost much. We have lost homes and enterprises, and – most painfully – our loved ones and colleagues. Yet we have never given up, nor have we lost what matters most: our faith and our determination to work effectively, to help, to rebuild and to defend our shared values. On 13 November, as part of the ReBuild Ukraine international exhibition in Warsaw, an architectural concept for a future residential quarter for 1,000 displaced families from Mariupol was presented. A memorandum on the transfer of architectural and technical solutions for the housing construction was signed between the Mariupol City Council and Metinvest as part of the Group’s Steel Dream concept for Ukraine’s reconstruction.The architectural design of the residential quarter was financed by Rinat Akhmetov's Metinvest Group The concept, which has been provided free of charge to the Mariupol City Council to enable the earliest possible start of construction, envisages the use of modular steel-frame building technology. The October-November 2025 issue of Forbes Ukraine features a story about how Metinvest Polytechnic is cultivating a new generation of engineers, metallurgists, miners and modernisation leaders, to drive the future of Ukrainian industry and support the country’s reconstruction.Inspired by one of Asia’s leading technical universities, Metinvest Group founded Metinvest Polytechnic five years ago.In the summer of 2021, construction began in Mariupol on a cutting-edge university campus, complete with student accommodation and a sports complex. The project was well under way when the full-scale war forced its suspension.However, the pause was not permanent. Following the temporary occupation of Mariupol, the university retained its academic and teaching staff. It has continued operations in a hybrid online and offline format.
