Metinvest Polytechnic Technical University has launched a new cycle of career guidance meetings with prospective applicants. The campaign began with meetings with young people in Zaporizhzhia and Kamianske, dedicated to career choice, modern engineering technologies and the needs of Ukrainian industry. The results of the 2026 admissions campaign confirmed the interest of young people in technical education: mining and metallurgy were the most popular fields of study among applicants to the university. In Kamianske, representatives of Metinvest Polytechnic met in person with students of the Kamianske Energy Professional College. On the night of 11 August, Oleksii Zavhorodnii, an employee of Zaporizhstal, was repairing blast furnace equipment together with his colleagues when the plant came under a russian attack. Oleksii was unable to reach a shelter and suffered severe injuries. His colleagues pulled him from the rubble and provided first aid. The rescuers who arrived at the scene promptly transported Oleksii to hospital. Doctors fought for his life for three days. Colleagues came to the hospital, waited for news, and held on to the hope that Oleksii, a strong and resilient man, would overcome the consequences of the devastating attack. But on 14 August, Oleksii passed away. He never regained consciousness. He was only 51 years old. Metinvest Consolidated Iron Ore, in partnership with Kryvyi Rih Future Foundation NGO and Petrivska Settlement Council, continues to implement infrastructure projects for the benefit of community residents and their children. Repair works are currently underway at one of the community’s pre-school education institutions. Last year, under the cooperation memorandum, Metinvest provided funding for the purchase of construction materials and equipment to establish a basic shelter, as well as for roof repairs at a kindergarten in one of the villages of Petrivska community.
