Employees of Zaporizhzhia Refractories took part in a spring community clean‑up

Employees of Zaporizhzhia Refractories  took part in the city’s spring clean-up campaign, joining efforts to tidy up Zavodskyi District of Zaporizhzhia.

They worked along the riverbank reinforcement area, a popular recreational spot for local residents. Participants in the initiative cleared the area of household waste, dry leaves, and branches.

“We selected this location deliberately, as it is a popular recreational area for local residents. Unfortunately, a large amount of litter accumulates here. It is important to us that this area continues to be a safe and pleasant place to spend time – with children and with pets. That is why we decided to take matters into our own hands and tidy up the area,” said Nataliia CHUMAK, a maintenance fitter at Zaporizhzhia Refractories.

Specialised equipment was also deployed during the works, enabling the prompt removal of the collected waste and the swift restoration of order in the area. Within a few hours, participants managed to collect substantial volumes of waste, including plastic and glass.

"A total of 25 Zaporizhzhia Refractories employees took part in the initiative, with two units of equipment deployed. This is indeed a very important initiative. We once again encourage city residents to get involved, as well-being and order in our city are a shared responsibility,” said Mykhailo HOHUN, Head of Recruitment and Staff Development Department at the enterprise.

For the company’s workforce, such initiatives are not only about improving the environment, but also about fostering team spirit and unity.

“Our enterprise takes part in clean‑up activities on a regular basis – we always participate in community clean‑up campaigns. This time, I decided to join in as well. It is truly a combination of something useful and something enjoyable: an opportunity to do something meaningful for the city, to work in a beautiful setting along the Dnipro embankment, and simply to connect with colleagues outside of work matters,” says Roman ROMANOV, a refractory worker at Zaporizhzhia Refractories.

In Zaporizhzhia, the participation of industrial enterprises in the spring clean-up has already become a well-established tradition. Each year, they help to maintain and improve public spaces across the city, contributing to overall cleanliness.

“We greatly appreciate the active involvement of industrial enterprises in city initiatives, particularly those operating within the city’s districts. This is not only real help in maintaining public spaces, but also an example of a responsible attitude towards the community. We sincerely thank the team of Zaporizhzhia Refractories for their openness and willingness to take action. At the same time, we call on all residents of Zaporizhzhia to respect the work of others, maintain cleanliness, and take care of the environment. The spring community clean‑up continues – and everyone can make a contribution to improving the city,” said Roman KIRIANOV, Head of Zavodskyi District Administration of Zaporizhzhia City Council.

Previously, we reported that more than 150 volunteers from Metinvest’s Zaporizhzhia-based enterprises, including Zaporizhstal and Zaporizhzhia Coke Plant, took part in the spring community clean‑up, tidying a green area at the junction of Peremohy and Skifska streets, as well as the Dnipro riverbank near the Epicentr shopping centre.

The city’s spring community clean‑up is ongoing. Anyone can take part in it in order to make Zaporizhzhia cleaner and more comfortable to live in.
