Recently, Zaporizhzhia hosted Metinvest Polytechnic's Open Day, bringing together nearly 200 applicants and their parents. The event served as a platform to introduce young people to Ukraine's first private mining and metallurgical university, which combines European educational standards with practical training.
Attendees learned about the university’s academic programmes, including metallurgy, mining, automation, digital technologies, energy, ecology, occupational safety, business analytics, management, etc. University representatives shared information about learning opportunities, financial incentives, international internships, and career development prospects.
Vadym Pukhalskyi, Head of Development Department at Metinvest Polytechnic, stated that everyone can apply to the university.
"Education is available both on a contractual basis and with funding from Metinvest. For company employees, their children, and students willing to work at Metinvest enterprises during and after their studies, we offer corporate sponsorship that fully covers tuition costs. Based on academic performance, students receive scholarships comparable to other universities. Additionally, top students may qualify for the Metinvest CEO's scholarship," said Vadym PUKHALSKYI.

He also added that quotas and benefits for specific categories of applicants, particularly internally displaced persons, will be maintained. Veterans and certain privileged categories have simplified admission requirements, without the need to take the External Independent Testing (for bachelor's programmes) and the Unified Entrance Exam (for master's programmes).
All university's academic programmes are licensed by Ukraine's Ministry of Education and Science. An international internship is available for outstanding students, and there are opportunities for research work at laboratory and production facilities in Ukraine and abroad.
A highlight of the event was the interaction with current students who are balancing their education with successful careers. They shared their experiences of studying at Metinvest Polytechnic, interning at the Group's international enterprises, working on real cases related to production, and developing their careers before obtaining their diplomas.
Denys Tymoshenko, a Metinvest Polytechnic student, scholarship holder of Metinvest's CEO, and Zaporizhstal employee, shared his story of success.
"Having studied at Metinvest Polytechnic for two years now, I can confidently say – this education truly works. There is no excessive theory here, everything is as close to production as possible. From the first year, we work with modern equipment, solve real industrial cases, and intern at enterprises. It is not just an education but an opportunity to build a career right now. The support from Metinvest, scholarships, and international internships are especially impressive. I am already working as a lead power engineer at Zaporizhstal, and I know for certain this is just the beginning of my professional journey," said Denys TYMOSHENKO.

Oleh SHPYKOVSKYI, Head of HR Department at Zaporizhstal, told applicants about opportunities Metinvest Polytechnic offers its students and graduates.
"Zaporizhstal offers many motivational and career programmes for young people from paid internships for top students and participation in the enterprise's youth organisation to development and growth within our career reserve formation programme and professional growth opportunities across Metinvest Group assets. For young professionals who choose Zaporizhstal or other Metinvest enterprises as their first workplace, we have implemented the 'First Workplace' incentive programme. This programme ensures a smooth workplace adaptation, training, various support programs, and a bonus of UAH 50,000 in addition to salary and bonuses during the first year of employment. Currently, 122 employees have joined the programme, with the fund exceeding UAH 6 million."
The Open Day in Zaporizhzhia once again reinforced Metinvest Polytechnic’s role as a university dedicated to preparing specialists for modern industry. Engineering education here is not only about theory, but also about real opportunities for students to become part of innovative production facilities and grow in the profession along with the industry.
