Metinvest Polska, a trading company, has opened a new 7,700 m2 covered warehouse in Poland. The warehouse will help Metinvest Group to reach end users, improve service level, accelerate turnover and increase sales of steel products in Europe.
"The new warehouse has a favourable location. It is located in Gliwice Special Economic Zone, 30 km from Katowice. This is an area with simplified customs procedures, which greatly facilitates the shipment of Ukrainian steel products to customers in Central and Eastern Europe, with a developed railway infrastructure and at the intersection of highways (to the west - Germany, to the south - the Czech Republic and Slovakia)", - Yulya Mezentseva, Head of Logistics at Metinvest Polska, says.
The new warehouse in Gliwice has been operating for about a month now. We are currently able to store 5,000 tonnes of flat products and 4,000 tonnes of pipe products per month produced by Ukrainian steel plants and Italian rerolling plants of Metinvest Group.
It is possible to finish rolled products, including surface cleaning and packaging. The warehouse have a system to control the humidity and temperature.
Currently, the warehouse employs seven people and has four cranes (one with a lifting capacity of 35 tonnes and three 25-tonne cranes), which allows it to handle up to 20 trucks a day. It is possible to simultaneously accept products and ship them to customers by road and rail. In the future, there is a potential to increase the number of trucks handled to 40 per day.
