An experiment was successfully conducted at Ore Beneficiation Plant No.1 of Metinvest Group's Ingulets Iron Ore Enrichment Works (GOK) to establish optimal technological conditions for the production of concentrate with an iron content of 67% and higher using a non-flotation method.
Since the beginning of the war in Ukraine, all Metinvest Group enterprises have experienced complications with the logistics of raw material supplies and the shipment of finished products. Because of the loss of customers in Ukraine, Ingulets GOK has begun reorienting towards the European market where there is demand for high-quality concentrate.
In order to achieve the necessary level of quality, the experiment was conducted at Ore Beneficiation Plant No.1, where concentrate of Grade A-2 with an iron content of 65.4% has been produced. The objective of the experiment was to increase the iron content up to 67% of Grade A-1. It took technology and quality specialists a month to perform the necessary calculations, to estimate a probable load on the mills and to determine ways to implement the idea.
According to the head of the technological department, Eduard BESPOYASKO, the experts selected the option of extracting and enriching ore using a selective method. The experiment yielded a positive result, making it possible to produce 20-30,000 tonnes of Grade A-1 products on a monthly basis at Ore Beneficiation Plant No.1.
“Ingulets GOK has demonstrated its capacity to confront challenges many times. And today, while working under a state of martial law, we are developing a process for releasing high-quality concentrate as a result of operational improvements. When the logistical issues of concentrate sales are resolved, the works will be able, in general, to increase the production of concentrate with an iron content of 67-68.5%,” commented Oleksandr GERASIMCHUK, General Director of Ingulets GOK.
