Metinvest's Central GOK continues to carry out system repairs of equipment to ensure uninterrupted production and avoid downtime. As part of the investment programme, the company carried out a major overhaul of the classification building of the crushing plant. Metinvest allocated UAH 2.4 mln for this project.

The equipment of the classification building is a reloading unit for transporting tailings of dry magnetic separation. A screen and a classifier, that wash dirt from the tails, are among the equipment. As a result of the process, specialists obtain pure crushed stone, which is used in the construction of roads and railways.

Stairs, walkways, platforms of this section are designed for the repair and maintenance of classification equipment and are constantly under the influence of an aggressive environment and in contact with water. Therefore, it is necessary to update the structures in a timely manner.

The specialists carried out the major overhaul of the classification section for four months. The key works also include the strengthening of the load-bearing structures of columns and beams, the replacement of steel structures of equipment maintenance platforms (screens, conveyors), as well as steel structures of fencing, sump. Steel structures also got anti-corrosion protection. To improve working conditions, the concrete floor was restored and additional drainage trays were installed. Now the specialists working at the classification section will be able to perform work more conveniently and safely, including hydro-cleaning.

"The works performed have significantly increased the level of safety for employees, minimizing the risk of injury, and ensured the stability of the classification equipment," said Oleksandr IVASHURA, head of the crushing plant of Central GOK.
