Since the beginning of 2023, steelmakers of the Metinvest Group have produced and shipped 420 tons of oxygen for the needs of Ukrainian hospitals.
In the conditions of a full-scale war, the support of Ukrainian medicine is one of the priority directions of Metinvest's work. Together with Rinat Akhmetov Foundation and under the “Saving Lives” humanitarian project, the company systematically supplies medical drugs, consumables and modern equipment.

In total, during the 16 months of the full-scale invasion, the company directed approximately UAH 200 million to support the medicine of Ukraine.
Urgent requests, in particular, the provision of medical oxygen, are not left without attention. Although the World Health Organization announced the end of the COVID-19 pandemic, the need for it has not disappeared. Oxygen can also be used to treat diseases of the respiratory tract, cardiovascular system, during surgical interventions, etc.
“Zaporizhstal” is currently the main supplier of medical oxygen among Metinvest enterprises. In June 2023 alone, steelmakers shipped almost 57 tons to hospitals in Zaporizhzhia and Dnipropetrovsk regions, and 420 tons in the first half of the year.
Oxygen is produced in the company's oxygen compressor shop, and the air separation unit is responsible for this. After passing ASU-60, liquid medical oxygen is shipped from the containers to a special tank and delivered to medical facilities. In order for all equipment to work reliably and without accidents, it is systematically repaired.
Let us recall, that in 2021, “Zaporizhstal” received a registration certificate from the Ministry of Health of Ukraine for the production of liquid oxygen for use as a medical drug. From that moment, the Steel Works started transferring oxygen to medical facilities of Ukraine free of charge.
