Metinvest Starts Production of Protective Screens for Stryker APCs

Metinvest Group, as part of Rinat Akhmetov's Steel Front military initiative, has started serial production of protective screens for Stryker armored personnel carriers, which are in service with the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The protective structures created by Metinvest are designed to enhance the resilience of armored vehicles against kamikaze drone attacks, which have become a key threat on the modern battlefield.

The new protective screens are the result of close cooperation between steel-makers, Ukrainian military, and engineers.

"Stryker is a high-tech armored vehicle, but in modern warfare, even the best equipment needs additional protection. We have developed a solution that increases the crew's chances of survival during FPV drone attacks, and we have already started serial production of such systems," said Metinvest Group's Chief Operating Officer Oleksandr MYRONENKO.

American Stryker armored personnel carriers, which were delivered to the Armed Forces of Ukraine as part of military aid from the United States, are noted for their high mobility and advanced electronic control system. However, their vulnerability to drones prompted Ukrainian engineers to urgently develop and install additional protection.

Steel Front already has experience in creating similar systems for Abrams, Leopard tanks, as well as M113 and Bradley armored personnel carriers. Analysts note that their protective grids have shown high effectiveness in real combat conditions, which likely led to the decision to extend this practice to Stryker.

It is expected that the first upgraded Strykers with protective grids will be tested in combat conditions in the near future.
