As part of Rinat Akhmetov’s Steel Front military initiative, Metinvest has produced and delivered over 200 training targets of various types, including balancing platforms, for Ukrainian Armed Forces training grounds.
One of the recent batches was sent to the 56th Separate Mariupol Motorised Infantry Brigade, where soldiers are already honing their shooting skills and practising tactical manoeuvres using steel gongs.
“The gongs we’ve received from Metinvest are incredibly useful. During rapid-fire drills, soldiers immediately hear if they’ve hit the target and know what to do next. These targets also help with speed shooting, movement exercises, and tactical coordination,” said an instructor from the 56th Brigade nicknamed Bychok.
Training at the firing ground is conducted by experienced instructors with combat backgrounds. They teach soldiers how to operate in pairs, coordinate their actions, and maintain effective communication during combat missions. The training programme includes paired movement drills, precision shooting exercises, and manoeuvring in conditions that closely simulate real combat – incorporating military vehicles, drones, and other tactical elements.

“Our goal is clear: to drive the occupiers out of our country for good. Thus, we must be as prepared as possible. We’re grateful to Metinvest for helping us equip the training ground,” said a soldier nicknamed Apik.
Metinvest Group and SCM have been recognised as Ukraine’s leading corporate donors in the TOP-100 magazine ranking. The Group has provided UAH 8 billion in charitable aid, with a significant amount allocated to military support through the Steel Front initiative, as well as humanitarian assistance.
