Metinvest invests in the future of Kamet Steel: The implementation of the record investment program 2025 has begun

In the difficult wartime, Kamet Steel, together with other enterprises of Metinvest Group, continues systematic work in the area of construction and reconstruction to improve the reliability and efficiency of production. And from the first days of January 2025, the enterprise has begun to implement this year's investment program with a total planned budget of more than UAH 2.5 bln.

Among its most important points is the major overhaul of blast furnace No. 9, in which almost a third of the program budget is being invested, since its primary tasks are aimed at maintaining the operability of the main equipment and production processes for the stable output of marketable products of the enterprise.

The company's pilot investment project for the construction of an alternative power plant with the installation of solar panels at Kamet Steel is also among the priorities. Such projects have not yet been implemented at Metinvest's enterprises. Now a team of specialists is conducting a pre-project study, practical ways to solve this completely new problem are being determined.

This year, the company is investing in the Kamet Steel program, which has a record total budget of $59.8 mln recent years, a significant part of which is aimed at maintaining and updating the main production equipment – a potential that is the starting point for further development and modernization of the enterprise. In total, during the year, we plan to implement 114 investment projects of various significance. In the main production shops, major overhauls of key equipment will be carried out. The resumption of production will allow the enterprise to renew its presence and enter new markets to sell these products, thus receiving additional profit.

In this year's plans for the modernization of the utility facilities infrastructure of the enterprise, considerable attention is paid to the construction of water pipelines. Water and gas pipelines of Kamet Steel are long-distance utility lines that need to be systematically revamped. In the near future, there are plans to move water supply pipelines for the blast furnace shop out.

The 2025 program also includes the start of the first start-up facility construction under a large-scale project for the construction of a new blast furnace gas collector. In a number of reliability projects, one of the most significant is the modernization of the drive control system of the continuous casting machine No.1.
