Made in Steel an Exhibition and Conference in Milan

Representatives of Metinvest Group participated in international exhibition and conference on steelmaking industry, Made in Steel 2021. 

This year, Made in Steel 2021 has been held in Milan for the ninth time. Manufacturers, distributors and customers met each other in offline format. This event was a balance between a prestigious exhibit rack and a cultural center promoting exchange of knowledge through conferences and round tables, thus encouraging competitive ability of business. 

Metinvest Group was represented by a delegation consisting of directors and heads of Directorate for sales and top-managers of European assets. All three days were rich in the events. Meetings with representatives of offices in Greece, Malta, Czech Republic, Slovenia, Bulgaria, Balkan region, negotiations on goods delivery to new and prospective markets as well as participation of Roberto Re, Head of Metinvest Europe, in “The Market from Viewpoint of Distribution” round table.

 

The event was attended by more than 13,000 people from 68 countries 

 

Dmitry Polyakov, Director of Department for Export Sales: 

- It is important that meetings be possible offline, everyone confirms that. Despite the restrictions, our exhibition stand was totally occupied on Wednesday, there were no empty conference tables there. There was no such rush at the most stands. As was evidenced by our meetings with customers of Tat Metal (Turkey) and Kandil (Egypt), Metinvest is not just a seller for our customers, but a partner, reliable in its deliveries. And in the event of any problems, it is ready to solve them together with its clients as well as to develop various products in collaboration with customers. We were also asked to share our vision of the current situation in the global markets.

Yuriy Utenkov, Director of Department for Sales and Commercial Service Operational Management: 

- Basically, at all the meetings we did our best to inspire our customers with confidence in further stability of steel product prices and revival in demand.  

Aleksey Pisarevskiy, Head of billet sales:  

- In spite of the existing restrictions, the hosts of Made in Steel decided to draw leaders of European steel business together again, and it came out to be spectacular and grand-scale! It’s not only great to see one’s old friends and partners, but also very useful to develop new opportunities. For instance, the prospect of Metinvest billet delivery to Danieli group looks  promising as its subsidiary, ABS company has launched a new wire rod production line. Now, it is the goal of Metinvest to arrange for production of the required quality product at DMK through implementation of such technologies as SEN casting, electromagnetic stirring, cast billet macrostructure control to comply with all the Customer’s requirements.

Lev Solovyov, marketing manager of Metinvest International Italia SRL, regarding the round table participated by Roberto Re: 

- The market is undergoing a sensitive trend period, and most participants hope that the price equilibrium will be achieved in the nearest possible time, which will ensure a stable operation and growth at all the market levels. The strategies of the future for everyone will inevitably be associated with digital transformation and sustainability. The final target of steel value chain is to use the available funds to implement various projects in Italy and Europe while developing environmentally and socially responsible companies providing for fair and sustainable market behavior. The market leaders, such as Metinvest for the part of the manufacturer, or Fincantieri for the part of the customer, should take a leading role in creating of structured, strong and stable communities at the market. 

Victoria Vasilenko, head of slab sales department:  

- Once again we’ve been convinced that offline communication with a customer will never be replaced with on-line sales. Such exhibitions give us an opportunity to reach out to the maximum number of our partners in one place. Moreover, one-on-one meetings lead to panel discussions with partners. The events of this kind contribute significantly to strengthening of existing partnerships with customers and establishing of new ones.
