Metinvest Group is doing everything possible to save the lives and health of its employees and protect them from enemy shelling. The Group is carrying out the mothballing of Avdiivka Coke and has minimised the number of staff working on the plant's industrial sites.
All of those who can do their work remotely were transferred to this mode in early March. However, specialists continue to work to maintain Avdiivka Coke's industrial facilities during the hostilities. Unfortunately, on May 3, after a work shift, most of them came under enemy fire, which was both quick and targeted. The workers did not even have time to return to the plant’s bomb shelters, which today have also become shelters for employees and residents of Avdiivka.
Currently, the plant has seven shelters that can accommodate 2,500 people. Shelters are equipped with generators, medicines, drinking water and food in an amount sufficient for an extended stay.
Avdiivka Coke’s management is working systematically to improve the vigilance of employees. It reinforces a timely response to danger and rules that will help save lives, especially guidance to use shelters at the enterprise or in the city during shelling.
Despite complicated logistics and hostile shelling, Metinvest Group is ready to evacuate all employees and members of their families who would like to leave the area of danger.
It is worth remembering that the large-scale shelling of Avdiivka has continued unabated for several weeks. Due to the hostilities, there is no water in the city, and sometimes there is no light or gas.
